Subject: Bad disk drive

My niece (6 years old) has a BBC which she loves but the disk drive
doesn't work.  I am going to look at it to see if I can fix it.  Does
anyone have any information or suggestions?  In particular can I
just replace this with a single sided PC drive?  Double sided?  Can
I expect the BBC drive to work on my PC as a test?  Any help really
appreciated.
