Subject: SOME MOST INTERESTING POINTS

hi everyone,

just a few points to make.

1) does anyone know about the output from &FE60? both snapper and planetoids
consult this location and it needs fudging if the games are to work. the value
in this location affects if and how the ghosts in snapper move... can you
believe it? if someone has a bbc micro at hand can they type

 10 PRINT ?&FE60: GOTO 10

and tell me what the output looks like. is it random? are the values in a
certain band?

2) an interesting fudge is to update your VIA counters and check for
interrupts, say,
every 10 opcodes instead of every opcode. i get a good performance boost
doing this and i know it's naughty but it's worth it.

3) after including code to count the cycles per opcode, i get a mean figure
of about 3.5 cycles per opcode, i.e. the beeb executes some 570,000 opcodes
per second.
