Subject: Disk questions

Hi Angus,

Now you've become my oracle for disc-related questions :), I have
another one. As you know, I'm writing a program to allow serial
file transfer between a Beeb and a PC. Currently it works for
DFSs (I tried it with 1.2 and 2.0), but it would also be
nice if it would work with ADFS and your own HDFS. A problem
is my sideways RAM board appears to be broke, so I can't
try HDFS.

Therefore I have a couple of questions:
- is $ still the root directory with ADFS and HDFS?
- does OPENOUT("R.FILE") automatically create the directory
  R with ADFS and HDFS?
- is the dot still the directory separator with ADFS and HDFS?
- what is the maximum length of directory names with ADFS and HDFS?
- could you provide me with the results of what ADFS and HDFS
show on screen (the complete formatted results including the
lines before the file names and the lines after the file names)?

If you're bored with my questions, or don't have the time
to answer them, please let me know. I'll give you a special mention
anyway in my proggies documentation.

Thanx again,
Mark.
