I had a similar setup with my Model B and 5.25" and 3.5" floppies. It
worked fine. Make sure that the jumper is set to DS1 on the 3.5. Also try
swapping the drive assignments to check if it is the drive itself that is
generating the error, i.e. set the 3.5 to be DS0 and the 5.25 to be DS1.
