Subject: Please Help: ADFS on the Master 128

Hi,

My Dad uses my Master 128 for word processing using View (he's been
doing it for years and likes it). He saves his files on 5.25"
floppies in ADFS format (640k).

A couple of days ago his file attributes changed from WR
(write/read) to E (execute). We've done some hunting around and have
found that executable files cannot be changed back (good idea Acorn!)
which means he can't access his data.

Does anyone know of a solution to this? An old friend suggested
copying them to an Archimedes because Acorn dropped the execute
attribute. There are also supposed to be some programs that do this
(featured in Acorn User magazines dating back to 1988 apparently) but
I don't have them.

Also, does anyone know why they suddenly changed attributes on their
own???

 Any help really appreciated!

 Julian
