Hi Crispin

Not by so much, the price of £35 is mostly for all the bits and pieces, p&p,
connectors, cables etc etc. It can soon mount up.

Look in the documentation section of the BBC lives, I uploaded this about 2
weeks ago.
As for compatability with SCSI, I don't know, and I'm still trying. I'm not
sure if it is my adapter board or the software I'm using to try and format
it.

Not quite, you can run a hard disk with ADFS WITHOUT a 1770 controller, it's
just that you'll also need the standard 8271 DFS also in the BBC so that you
can use your floppy too. The 1770 allows you to use the floppys with ADFS so
that you will save yourself a ROM socket. Also the 1770 and it's DFS is
better than the 8271 and you will have less problems connecting the more
modern floppy drives.

Yes, it is quite common for people to do this.
Look in the 8BS issues, one of them had an article that stated how to wire
this up.

There are archives of the BodyBuild series on the WEB.

I just check and this particular article is not archived. Just mail Mike and
ask him very nicely if he could put up the relevant article. Ask him nicely
and I'm sure he'll get round to it. He's a busy man though. There is also an
article there about converting Atari joysticks for use on a BBC, this could
apply to the use of PC game pads / joysticks.
