Subject: Formatting SOlidisk HD (part 2)

Formatting Solidisk Hard Drive - part 2!

A while back I posted a note on this mailing list saying that I
needed to format a Solidisk hard-drive.    Thanks to everyone who 
responded.   However, I still have not managed to format
the drive correctly.   The standard Acorn hard disk formatting
programs do not work.   The 'BBC Lives!' site has a formatter
called 'SolidiskSTLHardDriveFormatter.zip' for a Solidisk
hard-drive based on an Adaptec controller 
(mine has a Western Digital one) which formats and verifies the
drive without error - but I can only write one file to the drive
before I get 'Bad Directory', 'Bad FS Map', and Disk Error 21 
messages - yet the drive still verifies without error.   
Does anyone know how to fix the catalogue so I can save files
on the drive?
