Yes.

If your machine does NOT have disc or econet file systems then
the choice is between Tape or *ROM, *ROM is used if you Shift-Break,
which can also be acheived by setting the highest bit of the links
on the keyboard.

There was a program published in Acorn user a few years back for this.

We used ROMFS on a machine doing medicine labels at my fathers
Pharmacy many years ago - worked a treat.

If I remember *speech (this is the completely software one?) - it disabled
interrupts while it spoke; this may cause you problems (and completely
destroyed my attempt at a speaking clock...)

I'm pretty sure Maplin sell a DTMF decoder chip; bung it on the user port.
