It requires the User port version of ATS, usually called the Morley ATS. 
I have ATS+ 1.00, when I first used it I wondered why it didn't work with
my Acorn Adapter, until I realised it was looking for the User port
version.
 
I also have the ATS manual which is identical for all adapters, but has an
extra note for the User Port adapter saying, basically, 'only one grabber
record, plugs into user port, load & save tuning information this way'.
