Subject: Re: IDE interface for the beeb

Hi,

I am afraid this might now not be a viable possibility due to
the 50pin SCSI system used in FAST SCSI II and SCSI I are being phased
out in favour of 68pin and 8xpin Ultra wide systems. Also scsi is
reducing in popularity due to the release of alternative devices like
fire wire / usb Jaz fast ATA100 IDE.
The trouble is there are so many scsi standards there's a mine
field and product manufactures are simplifying.

Chris

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be easier to fix the timing problem with
the current 1MHz bus to SCSA interface board so that you could connect
normal SCSI devices.

Small SCSI hard drives are available now for not a lot of money, and
just think of the other storage devices that you could connect.

On the face of it this sounds easier than reinventing the wheel with an
IDE interface.

Just a thought,
               Andrew.
