And, if it was his pride and joy (well, he did all the coding, graphics and
sound for it, after all), why does he have to download a copy?  Surely he
would have (at least) originals of a successfully published game?

Now, you can call me silly if you like, but in my opinion, the author of
Qwak wouldn't refer to the disk image as a ROM...

So, I'm inclined not to believe him.
