The only ABASIC I've come across in connection with Acorn is for an Atom,
and it's much older than 1983 (never mind 1987). There was a program
called ABasic for a PC (nothing to do with Acorn). There was also ARM
BASIC (copyright 1986), perhaps what you've seen was related to the ARM
development system or A500 (both of which used a BBC B for I/O, via the
Tube). The development systems versions were on disk (only) and usually
had the filename AB, but internally they were called ARM BBC BASIC V.
