As I recall, HD 5.25" disks use a different magnetic media from
the DD 5.25" disks.  However all 3.5" disks seem to use similar
media.

I've never tried using a HD 5.25" drive on a BBC. This ought to
allow one to use HD media (although at only 10 sectors per track),
but then one wouldn't be able to share disks.
