Subject: archiving floppies and ROMs

Hiya,

What other utilities (other than FDC and Xfer) are there available to save BBC
floppy data onto a PC? FDC doesn't appear to like any of my PC disk hardware
unfortunately, and looking at the Xfer documentation it implies that it
transfers individual files rather than a whole disk image - ideally I'd rather
back up an entire self-contained disk image than have to worry about lots of
seperate files.

Additionally, it'd be nice to be able to be able to back up ROMs from the BBC
to a PC via a serial link - is there any software around to do this?

As an aside I will be playing around with a Torch Manta board in a PC which
should allow me to read BBC-format disks (and just about anything else). The
boards don't seem to play well with other SCSI devices on the same bus, but I
can put one on its own bus and use it that way. I just need to remember enough
C to code something to drive it :)

cheers

Jules
