These were the versions of Elite released by Acornsoft.

In total there were 4 versions of Elite for the BBC's

1. Tape Elite - It was on tape enough said.

2. Disc Elite - Had lots of extra ships, equipment (?) and the the
missions.

3. Tube Elite - Same as the disc version, except it was in colour, and
had
a Star wars credits opening sequence. It was also very fast, as the
Beeb
did all the drawing, while the tube did all the geomemtry calculations.

It was rumoured that this version had the generation ships.

4. Master Elite - Like tube Elite, without the star wars sequence, and
had
a slightly different use of colours and sound. Also they was rumoured
to
be a cloaking ship.

Some people referred to as the Tape version as Elite I and the various
disc
version as Elite II. There was an official Elite II title released for
the
PC by Frontier.
