Subject: Re: UEF

Unlike most on the list, I am not that well up on the technical parts of the
BBC or it's emulators but I would like to ask if some kind soul would use
their knowledge to help me out.
I still have a few games (simple ones) that I wrote many years ago which
are still on tape and I would like to make an image of them (is that the
right wording) to transfer onto my PC so I could work on/play them again
without having to type them all in again.
I have looked at the program "makeUEF" but I can't seem to find any
(understandable) instructions for its use.
Double-clicking the .exe file (dos version) brings up a finished dos box
with the various options and doing the same to the windows versions brings
up the same prompt but really too fast to read. I have tried using the
start/run methods with the same results.
I have tried typing in "C:\My Documents\makeUEFdos\makeuef.exe" -i
snapper -o snapper.uef" which seems to work (except I don't have a file with
that name) and it says "error could not open the file" (well it couldn't as
there isn't one).
Now, how do I actually get the tape sound into the PC? Do I just record it
as a wav file to the MakeUEF folder on the PC or should it ask me to play
the tape or what?
I am feeling very lost and stupid at the moment.
I do hope you will have a little patience with me as I am still feeling my
way around.
Sorry if it's not the right place to ask.
Colin Hill
