Hi all,

I've aquired a second Torch 'Hard Disk' machine amongst another batch of
Torch equipment, and can't really justify hanging onto this one as I
already have the spares to keep the first one going.

It's free to a good home (I'm just outside Cambridge; shipping this
thing anywhere is probably too costly) - the catch being that it needs a
replacement 10MB drive as the original BASF unit doesn't seem happy (it
may be repairable; the drive spins up but emits a series of coded
flashes on the LED - possible that the data is still intact on the
platters though)

Looks identical to this other one of mine, with the exception of "Torch
Loan Machine" stickers on the front:

(the keyboard is a seperate unit, even though that's not clear in that
picture)

For those who don't know: The integral monitor is a Cub. The heart of
the machine is a BBC B, with a Torch Z80 coprocessor fitted. The hard
drive is hooked up to the BBC via a Torch SASI controller and a
SASI/ST506 bridge board. There's provision for a modem inside, although
neither of my two machines had this fitted. All the standard BBC ports
are brought out to the rear of the case, and the Econet chips are fitted
to the BBC board.

I'd really like to get it out of the way sooner rather than later! I can
probably supply disk images for it at some point; I've probably got
several hundred floppies from the Torch workshops though and so trawling
through what goes with what is easier said than done)

cheers

Jules
