Perhaps look at the older BBC drawing(s); the implementation there is the
same as later (final) ones, as used in the Master & Archimedes; they all have
hardware collision detection. Even the one for the A4000 is the same -
convinced by checking the parts on the PCB, although the board size
dimensions is different.

As I learned from (on this list) here a while back, the design is always the
same - implementation with software collision was only used temporarely. Only
the line drivers were changed to cheaper ones on the Master/Archi versions,
I think.
