Subject: network-aware scrolling message thingy

... for want of a better description!

I just asked roughly the same question over on the classiccmp list, but
here's the Acorn-specific version...

One of the idea in the pot at Bletchley when we have more room is to
have some sort of large wall-mounted scrolling message system built out
of old hardware.

A few BBCs Econetted together connected to standard Cub displays seem
like a good base as the hardware's readily available. Finding some
battered old BBC B's that are up to the job isn't a problem - Cubs are a
little harder to come by as people don't hang onto them, but I'll keep
my ear to the ground for school clearances...

I've got spare Econet modules if needs be, and can throw a clock box
together from the schematics.

Question is, has someone done this already? Seems like a sort of 80's
hacky school project that someone might have done!

(Of course a 4x4 Cub 'video wall' hooked up to a camera to give large,
grainy digitisations of museum visitors would be pretty neat too...)

Kicking myself for passing up 30-odd Cub screens last year now!

cheers

Jules
