Subject: Re: Chuckie Egg - better patch (and some mysteries solved!)

hi,

Sorry for the delay - rl (in the form of my car giving up the ghost)
intruded somewhat so I haven't spent much time near my PC until tonight.

Nope - there was never a disc release, only ever a cassette. There's a
chance the cassette may have been re-released with the redesigned AnF logo
(tho I haven't seen any pics of that) or, less likely, much later under the
Pick & Choose label but I never expected the actual game to be recompiled.

If I ever track down Doug Anderson for an interview, I guess I'll ask him!

OK, I've updated my site with the multiple pokes and also tested both
versions on BeebEm - with no problems! :)

With regards to your patch, I haven't found any side effects so far .. :)

Stupid questions time - after comparing it directly with a spectrum
screenshot, I can only notice three differences:

1) Spectrum has White text on Blue background for players 2-4 score
2) Spectrum's labels (like the word "score") are white
3) Spectrum lifts are yellow

>From the little I understood of your in-depth explanation earlier, I guess
1) isn't possible with a patch? I just wondered about the last two, tho - I
think it would certainly look cool to keep the lifts yellow. Is it possible
to separate the lifts from the eggs?

Anyway, that's obviously being picky - the patch as it is, is very cool. I
suspect it will become my Chuckie Egg mod of choice ... ;) If you have no
objections, Rich, I plan to host it on the site as an SSD image (to save
people typing it in) - I'll add your authorship in a few REM statements in
the loader and as an entry on the hacks & upgrades page. I might even try,
if I'm feeling brave, to extend it to offer the functionality of the other
pokes in a menu - that make take me a bit, tho. ;)

Alright - it's late, I'm gonna have one more blast of spectrum colour
chuckie and then get some sleep!

Cheers,

Peter.
