Yes it's a bit of a shame that a year on the unbuffered 8 bit interfaces are
still being shipped, especially as (having loaned Jonathan my fully
assembled 16 bit interface) it's known to work just fine except for HDInit.

As a work around you can infact use the 16 bit interface provided the drive
is first initialised with an 8 bit card. It's still a bit of a mystery to me
why HDInit only works on the 8 bit card.

I suspect Jonathan is very busy at Sheffield council, which digests an awful
lot of his time,
