I haven't used a LX-400 but used to use an Epson LX-80 with a BBC.  The DIP
switches do need to be set differently for the BBC from the PC settings, but
I can't remember the details.  My Dad still has the LX-80 and probably the
manual so I can find out how its DIP switches are set if that would be any
use to you.
