Subject: Re: BBC Micro Customer Looking for Hard Drive

There are 2 possibilities really for getting a hard drive for a
BBC micro.

The first is the old technology route. You need either a complete
BBC Winchester disc setup, which are very hard to find, or to make
one up from the component parts, ie. a Host Adapter Board and
then either a suitable SCSI hard disc (if you can find one that works)
or, more likely, an old ST506 type Winchester disc which will also
need a disc controller bridge board (Adaptec ACB4000/4070, Xebec
S1410 etc).

Alternatively there is the more modern approach using the new
BBC IDE interface which is compatible with most IDE drives and more
information about it can be found here:

Best wishes,

Ian

Subject: [BBC-Micro] BBC Micro Customer Looking for Hard Drive

I have a customer (who lacks internet access alas), who is looking for a
hard drive for his BBC micro.

I don't think he has a suitable interface, so some suggestions (and where
one can be found) would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
