Just to clarify...

When I say "sockets" I mean the solder pads on the board rather than a
physical socket to which you can easily push an IC into.

>From your picture the tracking is all in place, you just need to fit the
upgrade (you even have a disc connector already fitted, so thats one less
task to undertake :) ).
