I was driving the family back from Norfolk yesterday, to Manchester.
We managed to avoid the worst of the actual flooding, although the A1
was apparently closed just south of where I joined it (to go North),
I did have to drive around some poor soul stranded in a deep 'puddle'
exiting the services somewhere in one set of roadworks though....

Travel news today had the A1 & A1(m) closed in two parts of the bit I did use...

Apart from that, thiugh, for the most part the weather, and trafic,
was dire! It took about 8 hours to get 240 miles, mostly due to
stationary traffic..
