It's annoying because there's no good reason for it. This is now the 17th! 
mailing list that I currently subscribe to, and the *only* one that I can't 
simply hit 'reply' to - so I'm going to forget that I can't about 95% of the 
time... which means the poster is usually going to get 2 of my messages 
after I realise and re-send to the list. In fact, I've received both a 
direct reply and list reply from others already, so I'm not the only one!

Anyway, given the responses in this thread already, it's obvious that it 
will never change despite the fact that it annoys most people - evidenced by 
the fact that it comes up "every month", presumably each time someone joins 
- so in the interests of Andrew & Darren and other long-time members, let's 
make this the last post on the subject and I (reluctantly) won't bring it up 
again.
