I assume you're referring to RFC2919, which is the one that specifies 
the List-Id and what it can be used for.  There's no compulsion on a 
mail client to use that, and I didn't know of any that do until you 
mentioned it.

Which is Turnpike.  Hardly the most common email client around, so it's 
not surprising if most list subscribers don't have those options :-)
