That's caused by age rather than overloading; and in every case it's
happened to me, the PSU has remained perfectly servicable afterwards,
although it smells a little bit. It's happened to me on five or six
Model Bs plus a Master, also an Apple IIe, a Sharp camcorder battery
charger, an Apple Mac Plus, and various other things. All working fine
after emitting clouds of smoke...
