Subject: Cleaning Yellowing Cases

Not as badly as some other computers, but they do. I've got some
sun-scarred ones, which also have a seemingly 'roughened' surface to
them. They've scratched easily in places and left lighter coloured
lines showing. Similar to an early 1970s car I once had where the
surfaces of the interior plastics had been very badly damaged by
sunlight.

I also once had an issue 3 that was a horrible shade of orange all
over, with the word 'PHYSICS' written in big black marker writing on
it. It looked like UV damage but turned out not to be - some
industrial detergent brought the whole thing up like new, clean light
beige, it even took the marker writing off.

I'd like to test the removal of yellowing (I have a lot of stuff that
would benefit), and I've got some of the aforementioned yellowed case
lids in shockingly bad condition (black vinyl torn off, cracks and so
on). I'm not sure if I'll get chance to do it any time soon though,
but it's a plan.

Thinking of the black vinyl, I'd hope that the process involved
wouldn't affect it, take the lettering off it or anything like that.
