Yes, for a ~25m network.. Worked fine.  Make sure you keep to the
twisted pairs - I used orange for D+ and D-, green for C+ and C-, and
brown for earth.

I think it would probably work fine for long networks, up to a couple
hundred metres.  For a permanent installation I'd probably use STP.
