Subject: Acorn World 2009 - Provisional Floor Layout

Hi

Here is a link to the provisional floor layout for ACORN WORLD 2009 (!) which
takes place Sept 12-13th in Huddersfield, and forms part of the Retro Reunited
convention:

http://www.acornworld.co.uk/layout.png

I'll provide further information about each of the exhibits once I've been
able to confirm a few things; however, in the mean time I'd be very grateful
for any feedback on the current layout and the ideas we've had so far e.g.

- the Repairs table (if anybody feels an urge to wave a soldering iron around,
or should any Beeb PSUs go pop!)

- the Acorn "Bring & Buy" table

- the 4-table "Econet Island"

- the 2 x tables where people currently programming software for 8-bit
machines can congregate and share knowledge/ideas etc (the tables themselves
will contain PCs loaded with Emulators and Dev Tools such as SWIFT, BeebASM,
P65, 6502Dis, Img2BBC etc)

- the 2 x tables for any miscellaneous Acorns items that people might bring
(which could be rotated if space is an issue)

Furthermore, should anyone have any really rare/exciting hardware that they'd
be willing to take along (ACW? ABC?) please get in touch.

As you can see, we've hired a massive room which will be jam-packed with all
sorts of Acorn goodies (33 tables' worth at the last count!). However, as a
consequence this does mean that the room is going to look very empty unless we
can get at least 50 Beeb nutters to come along (we managed about 30 at Byte
Back, so what with this being a bigger/better venue, I honestly think 50 is a
realistic target).

As a lot of time and money is being invested into this event, the sooner
BBC/Arc/Electron/Atom enthusiasts start buying their tickets in numbers, the
sooner we can start to relax! (I'm aware of about 10 people from the Stairway
To Hell forum who've already purchased tickets, and another 10 or so who've
said they should be doing-so shortly).

Anyway, here's hoping that we can count on support from as many members of the
List as possible (including you Southerners!). Though any Aussies/Kiwi's are
obviously excused, as is Peter from Zimbabwe! As for the Dutch members ...
well, KLM do regular flights from Amsterdam to Leeds Bradford Airport ... ;)

So, let's make the first Acorn World show since 1997(?) one to remember! If
it's a success (which I'm confident it will be) then we can reintroduce AW as
an annual event! :)
