I recently sold a machine to a guy in the Netherlands, and charged ?29.50 
shipping. The cost breakdown of that was ?19 for the basic shipping cost 
using DHL plus ?5.00 for transit cover up to ?250, with VAT added, makes it 
?27.60. The balance of a few pounds covers the packing materials etc., so 
that quote of the first seller sounds about right.

?50 is just either plain profiteering, or the seller being ignorant of the 
various shipping options available. I would bet a cheese sandwich on the 
former....
