I once read a list of 10 Hollywood film "rules" - one of these was
that any computer disc will work in any other computer, regardless of
software compatibility. I've also noticed a similar attitude to
hardware compatibility - such as the episode of the X-Files which
involved something stored on a backup tape. Bizarrely, every single
computer that Agent Mulder used had the correct type of tape drive and
software to read the tape.

Anyone noticed how low-end HP Deskjet printers in films and TV shows
seem to spit colour pages out at the speed of the fastest laser
printers?
