Subject: [BeebSoc] *Compact on ADFS 1.3x

Hi social beebers,

Since the new year, I've been trying to patch the already patched
ADFS1.33 so I can use it with the CF card IDE assembly (with PAL FC50)
from retroclinic leaving original ADFS works my hard disc set up. I
seem to have been fairly successful as in I as far as I can have my hard
disc working on the same wire (1Mhz bus) at the same time as the IDE CF
and copy between the two (via memory, obviously no direct pass through
the filing systems). Unless there are any objections, I will put the
ROM image / info / patch info of what I now call Acorn IDE 1.33 up on
t'internet when tests are completed. Not that I'm convinced that anyone
will find it useful.

There is more testing to do yet though and I PM'd Rick and Rob asking
them to suggest some tests. One of those suggestions was *COMPACT. This
sent a shiver down my spine as I recalled my first ever ADFS HD compact.
If anyone is planning to do an ADFS 1.3x compact with a standard BBC B,
and / or you haven't previously seen how awful the code behaves, I
suggest you goto ;

There are two 30 second flash videos of *COMPACT in action there. One
from MODE7 and one from MODE2. Watch it and weep!

Cheers,

Mick
