I've just been back to look at my notes (obtained this system 10 years ago!!) 
and it was a Sony Laserdisc player (LDP-1450) that it came with (and another 
spare). No cables or media so the drives could arguably have been from another 
source, but they were pro-spec CAV drives in the same grey colour as other
Sony broadcast TV equipment of the era. I flogged them to a guy who was building
up a Dragon's Lair arcade machine many moons ago.
