Overkill, much? :-)

Then again, I got a giggle out of bit-bashing a VGA signal!

You know, what I'd like to know - speaking of fast processors doing
oldish stuff, is why the BBC emulator on Android is talking about the
speed and needing, like, a GHz phone.

I recall 65Host (which, granted, wasn't a 100% accurate emulation)
working just fine on a 25MHz machine. CLS was a little slow, otherwise,
it seemed okay.

I've also used either BeebEm or the other one (forget the name) on a
466MHz Celeron, and it seemed okay. I can cope with 30fps instead of 50
if it "feels" fast enough!

But for a mobile phone they reckon a gigahertz is necessary? It *really*
takes 1GHz of ARM power to emulate a 2MHz computer? Or is Android just
really wasteful of resources?

On a different note: http://www.littlefluffytoys.com/?p=406 suggests
that BeebDroid (for Android, in alpha test) is a port of their favourite
open source emulator. It isn't stated which, but both BeebEm and B-Em
are GPL. I wonder if they will honour the GPL? I'd be interested in
seeing how an emulator is adapted to a mobile phone!

Best wishes,

Rick.
