Subject: Master won't work after storage

Hi

I've a standard issue 2 Master that isn't working after coming out of
storage, I'd removed the battery pack as a precaution and now can't find
it however...

When I Switch it on I get a continuous tone and a flashing cursor in the
top left, sometimes I get the word "TERMINAL" and then a flashing
cursor, sometimes a bunch of solid squares, then "TERMINAL" and a
flashing cursor.

According to the Master Service Manual it says "Check all connections to
and from the keyboard and keyboard encoder IC16. Replace IC16."

I've checked all the connections and checked the continuity of the
keyboard ribbon cable with a multimeter, can't see anything obvious.

I've re-soldered all of IC16 and the keyboard connector, So do I
unsolder IC16 and replace ? anyone got a spare ? and other ideas ?

The are only two chips that are socketed and I've had them both out and
reseated.

It doesn't matter if the keyboard is plugged in or not, I get the same
result. I only have the one master, bbc b+, acorn electron etc.

Thanks
Howard

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
