Subject: Should I keep my 5.25" disks?

Hi,

> when 2x speed writing was LOLOMGFAST, and the stuff on them is still 100%

I always try to burn at the slowest speed possible. I think it creates better
results. Or to put it another way, I am burning a DVD-R right now at 4x and
they pretty much just work. The setup can go up to 8x or 12x (I forget which)
but has higher incidences of making discs suitable only for scaring birds
and wall clocks...

Bigger/faster != better.

It would be interesting to compare life expectancy for a fast burn vs a slow
burn. Certainly, fast cooked beef is a very different animal (ho ho) to the
slow cooked stuff. Maybe it is similar with DVDs?

Best wishes,

Rick.
