Are you using an RGB monitor, a composite video monitor (with a the link fitted
or other modification for colour on the composite output) or a PAL television
connected to the UHF output?

If you are using a television with a SCART connector, check it is pushed
fully home!

I would suggest writing a short BASIC program in mode 2 to change to each of the
first eight colours in turn and write something to the screen.  Let us know
what colour you see for each colour number.
