With the right options gcc can target the 32000.

I was reading a couple of days ago about somebody maintaining some 
legacy ns32k code.

The TMS32xxx is Texas Instruments' second-sourcing of National 
Semiconductor's NS32xxx. TI took over NS in 2011 but they had been 
second-sourcing the 32k since the 1990s.
