Subject: Re: Uc.c

Haaah,

Out of curiosity, I grabbed a copy of uc.c and tried to compile it
under 4.2 bsd. So far, so good. Then I executed it and got the
help screen. I executed it a second time with the '-z' option and
played around with the menu (I'm a umodem user and have never used
uc before). Everything worked fine except for the 'd' command. It
tried to execute the system command 'dir' which we don't have; I
renamed it 'ls -l', recompiled, and now 'd' works the way it should.
I couldn't test the file transfer commands because my micro is at
home (and doesn't work thru the TAC anyway).

The bottom line is that everything looks ok to me. Did you try a
simple test like this, or were you only attempting file transfers ??

PS. I also applaud umodem.c for checking for various OS flags, but
I spent my entire lunch break recently trying to get it to compile
under 4.2. I had to try every flag because there was not an entry for
it. If there is a help file available -- not how to USE the program,
but how to COMPILE it -- I would appreciate a pointer to it. If there
isn't, I think one should be written.
