Updating the AP6 Control ROM ============================ If the AP6 control ROM is programmed into an EEPROM it can be reprogrammed with updated software as follows. You will need a disk with the updated AP6 control ROM and a disk *EELOAD command. You must not use the AP6 *SRLOAD command as it will overwrite itself as it is reprograms itself. If necessary, replace the filename 'AP6ROM' in the instructions with the appropriate filename on the disk. * Turn off the power and open the Plus 1 case. * Remove the AP6 control EEPROM from socket 12 at the far right. * Identify socket 5, the second socket from the left. * If there is already an IC in socket 5 temporarily remove it. * Plug the AP6 control EEPROM into socket 5. Ensure link 4 is removed. * Turn the power on. * Verify the AP6 EEPROM is now in socket 5 by typing *ROMS. * Allow writes to socket 5 with *UNLOCK 5. * Update the AP6 EEPROM with *EELOAD AP6ROM 5. (see above) * Restart the Electron by typing *FX200,3 then press Break. * Do *ROMS to confirm the updated software is in ROM 5. * Turn the power off and return the AP6 EEPROM to socket 12. Note: If you have two AP6 control ROMs present, you will get a repeating error on Power-On and Ctrl-Break. Press Soft-Break to recover, and then *UNPLUG one of them.
