You can replace the drive with any shugart-standard one (nearly all drives)
that ISN'T high density.
Both of my drives have been scrounged out of PC's, and work perfectly.
You may as well use a double sided drive, as this will work fine.
One problem you may find is that the drive light wont come on when it is being
used. I assume this is due to the current that some drive lights require.
This has no effect on the operation of the drive, it just gets a bit worrying.
As for testing the BBC drive on a PC, this should be fine.
