If it still crashes even with the VTi processor, then the problem is most
likely a timing fault which gets worse as the machine warms up.  Steve
heaven's suggestion about the freezer spray is the easiest way to find out 
which chip is at fault, unless you can detect something that's warmer than
everything else using the fingertip method (caution - in extreme cases, this
may become the "burnt fingertip" method!).  Most likely places to look are
the DRAMs, the 81LS95s, and the surrounding decoder chips.  My guess is
that something is corrupting the RAM used by BASIC or the MOS, because an
address is being wrongly decoded.   Try my trick with the DRAM link; it
might prove that it's not the DRAM itself, and narrow the field a little.
