Subject: Re: Changing file attributes
Thanks for the *save/load stuff Robert, though I took a guess last night
at doing this and luckily got the numbers in the right order - you do
have to *load the programme in at the required load address. I guess this
method can also be used to change tape files, as long as the difference
in file size created by changing the ch."" command is taken into
consideration. I'm having problems now with files that requirepage to be
set to &E00 to be loaded. They have no chance on my beeb, but I'm hoiping
to get them to run on the emulator. Incidentally is anyone interested in
creating a tape archive? i.e programs in Wouter's tape format, that do
not in their present state transfer in a running state to disk for use in
either the emulator or the native beeb. but obviously have the potential
to be cracked, or when a new version of the beeb emulator come out, to
run on that. I will soon ahve many files of this nature.
On the note of beebdos - I will try fdc and anadisk again though fdc gave
me lots of problems, for instance it claims to read single density,
though I don't believe this is possible on any pc drive! beebdos is very
temperemental - it only works properly on a disk formatted on my beeb
using the 40 track setting on the beeb drive - disks formatted on the 80
track setting but formatted to 40 tracks, work fine on the beeb, but not
on beebdos - strange. Also due to a conflict with the dos filing system,
if you attempt to read a floppy in either drive, from dos - and the
message not reading drive a/b appears, beebdos will not fuinction
correctly until a correctly dos formatted floppy is inserted into one of
these drives and read by dos! These peculiarities asided I'ver now
transferred 20 disks. The only snag is if there are lots of files - it
takes bloody ages to type in the .inf files for each one!!!!!
Upload coming soon, just need to do a bit of work on my PhD in the meantime..
