It may be just terminology matter but the above makes no sense at all.

- You cannot read the contents of a ROM into sideways ROM
- A disk images of sideways RAM is most likely empty.

I guess you mean the following:
1. How do I load a ROM image into sideways RAM?
2. Where can I get a copy of a DFS Rom to load into sideways RAM?

Answers:
1. You need a utility to do so. There is no standard OS command for
doing
   so. I guess you can find a utility at the BBC Lives! pages.
2. Try the BBC Lives! pages.
