Subject: BBC Questions......
I've just bought a BBC Master 128 (this is my first!) after having some
fun with an Electron which I bought a couple of weeks earlier. Now, I've
got a few questions and I would appreciate any answers. Here goes :
1. Why is it that many programs that I download from BBC Lives! won't
work? I've noticed that files in each archive come with a duplicate
filename with a .INF extension. Does this hold the key to running
the program? How do I convert these programs that I download onto
my BBC, once I've copied it over with BeebDOS?
2. How do I turn down the sound to my Master? I've used the Control
Panel utility to set the sound to half, but whenever a game takes
control, the volume automatically goes up to full again. I've been
told that there is a hardware switch (potmeter?) inside the BBC. Where
is it located?
3. How can I change fonts on my printer? I've got an NLQ ROM image
but it doesn't seem to work although it loads and seems to activate
successfully.! BTW, I'm using WordWise+
4. Are there copies of manuals for software like Mini Office II which
has been transcribed to the Internet for reference?
Also, when I bought my Electron, it came with loads of manuals and data.
I'd like to transcribe this and put it onto the net like what the
Commodore users have done in their eText series. Do you know of any
ongoing projects for the Electron which I could participate in, or should
I start one myself. What's the copyright situation on electronic
circuitry, manuals etc.
Thanks!
Regards,
Bala
