Subject: WYSIWYG word processors / InterWord and ENET
Hi
A local school asked me whether I knew of any word processors with
relatively modern features that they could use on their old Beebs.
The main aim is to introduce the students to basic concepts of
electronic word processing. (They currently use mechanical
typewriters.) The only suitable programme I could think of was
InterWord. However there are two problems:
1) There Beebs are connected via Amcom's ENET (v. 4.9), which does
not seem very friendly towards IW. One very interesting
phenomenon is that if a file is saved and then re-loaded, about
half a page of garbage gets attached to the start of the file.
2) Ideally they would like to load the programs off the network
server. Are there any word processing packages for the Beeb that
don't have to be in ROM?
Thanks
Walter
