The SCSI and ST506 are hard disks that are also used in PC's !

Yes it could be done, but is would be far too slow, slower that a floppy,
thus defeating one of the main advantages of a hard disc.

No, it wouldn't need modifications to the filing system, you would have to
build a host adapter to go between the 1MHZ bus and the IDE drive. In fact
exactly what has been posted, just for IDE instead of SCSI 1.
