Subject: Single to Dual Drive Conversion
Recently I've obtained a 3 1/2" disk drive for my BBC/Master. (Thanks
James :-) ). I have just loaded a DOS DFS on the Master and managed to
write my first file to a DOS format disk using the Master and read it
back using my PC. Cleaver, don't you think?
Then the thought occured to me, "What a wonderful way to transfer disk
images to and from the Master or Beeb! Use the BBC to write a 5 1/4"
disk image file direct to the DOS 3 1/2" disk as a DOS file!" Of course
you've realised my problem:
I've got to connect both the 5 1/4" and 3 1/2" drives to the BBC at the
same time!
So, does anyone remember how to connect two disk single disk drives to
form a dual drive? I know I'm going to have to find the drive select
jumper inside one of my drives (either that or exchange the drive select
lines on the cable) and I seem to remember something about pull up
resistors too? Does anyone have some more detailed instructions, or a
little advice having done this before?
Cheers for your help,
--
